A Picturesque Detroit Spring Wedding

Did you ever walk into an occasion and feel like you’ve stepped directly onto the set of a movie? That’s the feeling I had the entire time shooting Meghan and Stephen’s wedding in Detroit this spring.  It had the traditional feel of so many of the weddings I watched onscreen growing up, but with enough modern and unique touches to make the event seem truly their own. Read on for some of my favorite highlights from their special day!

GREEKTOWN DETROIT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Stephen and Meghan started their day by getting ready at the Atheneum Hotel Detroit in Greektown. This hotel is located in the heart of the city and the elegance was the perfect spot to get our mindset right for the special day! I just loved Meghan’s sparkly tennis shoes - that might have been my favorite accent point of the entire occasion!

From there, we headed to the historic Wayne County Courthouse building for some picturesque shots of the couple before the ceremony. Did you know this building is almost 200 years old? The stunning backdrop of the city was the perfect backdrop for the bride and groom to get a first look at each other.

PHOTOS AT BELLE ISLE IN DETROIT

Stephen and Meghan took wedding party photos at Belle Isle Conservatory. This gorgeous state park is just a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle from the city but it looks a million miles away! Between the pink flowers in the bouquets and the bridal party’s light purple dresses, the entire environment just oozed with the beauty of Michigan’s spring, which we always appreciate after a long winter!

DETROIT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

The wedding itself took place at the Whiskey Factory at Detroit City Distilling inside of Detroit’s famed Eastern Market. I just adored this unique setup, especially the whiskey barrels that they used to sign their guest book and cut the cake on! It’s definitely one of the venues that I’ll remember for years to come. We got some gorgeous rooftop shots of the couple to end the evening, and you could see the entire backdrop of the city in the background - what a magical day!

After reading this, you might be inspired to make your own magical celebration - well, then what are you waiting for? Give me a call and let’s get your date and some ideas in mind to start planning your special event. Let’s make it something that your friends and family will be talking about for years to come!
