A Wine-Inspired Northern Michigan wedding

I just love vineyard weddings, especially in Northern Michigan!  It’s even more special when the bride and groom have special memories tied to their ceremony location, as is the case with Staci and Adam’s Northport celebration.  The couple took their first vacation together just four months into dating to Lake Leelanau. They enjoyed the breathtaking views and tasty sip at Verterra Winery, and that was the exact spot where Adam proposed to Staci back in 2020. What better place to share their love with all of their family and friends than right back where it all began!

WEDDINGS AT VERTERRA WINERY

Located right in the heart of Leland, MI, Verterra Winery is a family-owned winery that’s been in business since 2005. They specialize in creating exceptional wines from estate grown fruit and today they have 40+ acres of estate grapes used to make over 20 different wines. They also boast a gorgeous special events center called The Ridge that has incredible views of Lake Michigan to the north and Grand Traverse Bay to the east. Lakefronts + vineyards + natural woodlands + a reflection pool and babbling brook = I’m so there!

The Ridge also hosts a reception terrace with inset flagstone invites, which creates a lovely open-air space with the same unbelievable views.  In our case, it also worked to protect the wedding guests from some pop-up showers that kept threatening our special day! Luckily the majority of the rain held off during the ceremony. The venue also has super cozy lounges for the bridal party to prepare - even the bathrooms are beautiful! This is definitely one of the most stunning venues out there in the state of Michigan. Make sure you give it a look if you are planning your special day in Northern Michigan!

PLAN YOUR NORTHERN MICHIGAN WINERY WEDDING

Staci and Adam made sure to incorporate more wine-themed elements into their wedding as well. I loved the details they used on the signature cute wine tumblers and the varieties of bottles that they had for their guests as well as on display! For the non-drinkers in the crowd, they also had a gorgeous watermelon charcuterie board and northern Michigan’s best (in my opinion) ice cream, Moomers!

I just loved getting to know Staci and Adam over the past year and I’m so pleased with how their wedding turned out!  When you work with me to photograph your wedding day, know that you’ll be getting a photographer who you can consider a friend, and who you can build a relationship with that will last a lifetime!
